Sorry! Last week was crazy. It was my last week at school and then my first at a new job! I went into Zara last night so I thought I would blog what I found.

Hope you enjoy!

Hello! I went shopping the other day and I found a few pairs of high-waisted shorts. Last summer I was on the hunt for a good fitting pair, but after months of searching I didn’t end up finding any that were a good price or fit properly. So, I ended up going into Garage, and it turns out they had a really good selection. I hesitated buying them in the store that day, mainly because I was in a hurry and I shouldn’t have stopped to try them on anyway. Here they are.
Surprisingly the denim ones fit looser than the black fabric ones. I found that if I went up a size (or two), they were much more flattering and didn’t cut off at my waist or thighs. I ended up buying them online that same night, and coincidentally Garage had a 15% off sale plus free shipping, so that was a win!
If you happen to follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I posted a picture of the denim ones on the weekend!

I’m really excited to wear these once the weather warms up. I unfortunately can’t get away with wearing these at work, so they will be after-work/weekend attire for sure! I see myself pairing them with a loosely fitted tank or t-shirt!
What do you guys think about high-waisted shorts? Do you have a pair or two? Let me know in the comments!

Hello! Here today with a nail post. On Sunday I decided to paint my nails with Essie Fiji.
Fiji is a pinky-nude colour that is wonderfully opaque with three coats. The first coat went on slightly streaky, and a second coat might have been just fine, but I evened everything out with a third. I noticed the formula is a bit thicker than Essie Ballet Slippers, but it just might be the bottle I got. I really love this colour, and I think it’s perfect for work!

Hello! Just thought I’d pop by to let you know there have been some small changes to The Silhouette Style over the weekend!
First up, you might have already noticed the new banner! I whipped that bad-boy up in Photoshop on Saturday after some not-too-long deliberation. I decided I wanted a new gravatar image, so I killed two birds with one stone.
Next, with the work of some simple HTML, I added some new social media buttons off to the upper right hand column of the page. Again, pretty simple change, as long as you know your coding basics. Now, you can link directly to my Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Blog Lovin’, and…
Facebook! Yes, I created The Silhouette Style Facebook page. It’s a good way to keep up with posts if you don’t check back here every day. You can “like” the page right from here since I added a Facebook stream to the main page (it should be over to the right, underneath the “Follow Me!” button.
Thanks for stopping by, and now back to your regularly scheduled programming…

Hello! Today’s post is all about the products I use on my hair on a daily basis! I only use a few products, and they somewhat vary depending on how I’m styling it. But, this is what I use!
First up is Aveda’s Damage Remedy. I’ve actually been using this product for over three years. I go through periods where I will use this everyday, and then forget about it for a while. I’ve picked it up again, and I’ve been using it for about three months straight now. You can buy it in any Aveda store, online, or through any Aveda salon.
When I get out of the shower, all I do is squeeze a dime-sized amount in the palm of my hands and then apply it evenly in my hair starting from about the ears down. That’s it! It definitely helps smooth down any flyaways when I’m blow drying my hair. Plus, it smells great too. Aveda describes the product by stating, “Our daily leave-in treatment instantly repairs damaged hair by 26%, helps protect from heat styling and detangles to help prevent further damage.”
Next up is Alterna’s Bamboo Luminous Shine Mist. This is just a sample size that I got as part of a VIB 500-point perk package from Sephora last summer/fall. I used to use this product on my hair when it was dry, but I found it smoothed flyaways better if I applied it when my hair was damp and I blow dried it with a large round brush. Again, I apply this product from about the ears down to avoid oily looking roots. I tend to avoid spraying it directly onto my hair to prevent any accidents (i.e. applying way too much to one area). I have fine hair, and this product does not weigh it down at all. I’ve actually received a few comments about how nice and shiny my hair looks whenever I use this.
Have you tried any of these products? What hair care products have you been loving lately? Let me know in the comments!

Back with a quick nail update. This past Saturday I got around to painting my nails with the nail polish I bought last week! On my nails I have Sally Hansen’s Barracuda with Kissed at Midnight by Nicole by OPI on my ring finger.

The application of Barracuda was a tad streakier than I expected, but was better with a second coat. Only a few nails needed a third coat just to even everything out. Kissed at Midnight is such a complex glitter and is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S! I love it so much. I used probably about two full coats and then I went back in with a toothpick to cover up any bare areas, which you can see in the pictures at the end of this post.
So, what do you think of the colour? And, what are some of your nail polish favourites? Let me know in the comments! More pictures are below.

Hello! Here today with a review of a conditioner I’ve been using for a little over two weeks now. I was on the hunt for the Macadamia Natural Oil conditioner for a while now. I’ve only mainly seen it at Trade Secrets in Ottawa, and at some Shoppers Drug Marts. I stopped into Winners over the Easter long weekend, and surprisingly I found it there!
(Please ignore the ham calendar in the top right corner of this picture, haha). Now, here’s the best part… This product is for sale on Macadamia’s website for $54 (CAD), but Winners was selling it for $34.99. Yes, a $19 difference! I didn’t even hesitate and took it home with me. I just want to note however, that I checked another Winners for more Macadamia products recently, and it appears not all of the locations carry it. So, if you have a few Winners locations in your city, make sure to check around a few stores to see if they have it.
Onto the review. The product isn’t as thick as I suspected it to be. It’s not as thick as a cream, but it’s definitely not milky. I’m used to Matrix Biolage products (which are amazing by the way), so it was an adjustment getting used to a thinner consistency. It definitely does its job. I find I get the best results from any conditioner if I simultaneously rinse my hair with water while applying it. I find if my hair isn’t wet enough when I apply it, my hair gets really tangled. I should note that I have fine hair, so it gets tangled really easily. I start by using about three to four pumps. Once I apply it, from about the ears down, I lightly run my fingers through my hair to really make sure there’s no tangles. I’m pretty impressed with the results so far, and I love that the container has a pump. I tend to overuse a lot of my products that are in a squeeze bottle because I always use too much. Using a pump allows you to better control the amount of product used. My hair has been really soft, and it’s easy to comb out once I’m out of the shower. Since I’ve dyed the ends of my hair blonde, I’ve definitely been trying to take better care of it, and this has been doing the job!
So that’s it for my review. Have you ever tried any Macadamia products? What other conditioning products do you love? Let me know in the comments! Oh, and I’ve also included a few more pictures at the end of this post.

I actually had to work this past Saturday (sad, I know), and after work I headed over to the grocery store to pick up a few things for dinner. Naturally I gravitated towards the beauty aisle first. This is what I found.

On the left is Kissed at Midnight by Nicole by OPI from the Selena Gomez collection, and on the right is Barracuda by Sally Hansen from the Complete Salon Manicure collection. The gold glittery polish is quite complex. It’s similar to Inner Sparkle, and has a mix of gold and silver hex glitter and gold small glitter. It’s really beautiful! The blue colour is a tad lighter than a Tiffany blue, and I thought the two polishes would pair well together!

Hello! Last week I went into Zara (I think on Friday), to have a look at some of their spring items. In Ottawa the store is fairly small, so I was disappointed when I didn’t find many of the things I wanted online. Here are some of the things I was looking for:

I thought this scarf was really cool! I have a thing for scarves (it’s a serious problem), and I wanted to add this one to my collection. Some day little scarf, you will be mine! Or, I could just order it online…

THESE SHOES! O-M-G, I can’t even explain how fab I think these are! #ineedyouinmylife. I actually saw these in the store in white…

This clutch is so damn cool, I had to include two pictures of it! Yup, I need this right now. Can you just imagine walking around downtown with this thing over your shoulder? I can. Where do I sign up?
Okay, so I didn’t actually find any of these things. I am waiting to buy them once I find a full time job. But, I did find one thing!
This skirt!

I think it’s adorable! I wore it here with my heart sweater from Garage.
So, what fashion finds have you been loving lately? Anything from Zara? Let me know in the comments!
